In its filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) for the third quarter of fiscal year 2014, Covidien Public Limited Company informed the body that it was taking a charge of $180 million intended for the ongoing vaginal mesh lawsuits. Two operating units of Covedien PLC have already been named as having supplied mesh products to manufacturers in the United. Of the numerous vaginal mesh devices supplied by its subsidiaries, it claimed in its filing that over 5,600 are involved in the ongoing vaginal mesh lawsuits.
